Inter Continental, Mumbai
Concerns:
- Hotel had setup a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of around 600 KL / day capacity
- The treated water was to be used for various secondary applications like Cooling tower makeup, gardening and public area washing.
- The STP installed was not performing, which made Hotel authorities to stop operating and maintaining the STP
- The Hotel Engineering team did their best to make the STP functional by contacting various agencies. But no positive output was obtained.
- The STP had been non operational for around 6 months.
- The various treatment tanks were full with waste water and have developed into an anaerobic condition.
- The existing major equipments including panel at site were in a bad shape and condition.
Since the STP plant was not functioning, there were issues of very foul smell and loss of around Rs.9, 000/- per day.
(300 KL x Rs 30/kl == Rs.9000/day} i.e around 2,70,000/- per month.
Average water requirement – 300 KL
Tanker Water (@Rs. 30 /KL): Rs.9000 /day
Water Costs: Rs. 9,000 / day == Rs. 2.70 lacs /month
What we did
- After evaluating the plant, we assured them that we can streamline the plant and would be able to deliver the desired quantity of good quality treated water
- We took the operation and maintenance of the plant
- Simultaneously complete analysis of the design of each and individual units, flow patterns, source & frequency of waste water generation, and such related information was gathered and evaluated
- we started with the retrofitting of the plant and was recommissioned for desired results.
Achieved
- The plant is treating the entire load generated by the hotel
- Fulfilling all their secondary water requirements.
- The tanker water requirement has been completely stopped. Thereby reducing the overheads
- The treated water has outlet parameters like BOD <10, is smell free, is been used for gardening, flushing and cooling tower makeup
- meeting all pollution control board norms.
-
Finally, the most important for us is the client is fully satisfied with the performance of the plant.
