WAPPSys OXY-BIO – an advanced SBR variant

Keeping in mind market requirements, WAPP has developed its own in-house SBR model suited for Indian conditions – WappSys OXY-BIO. This plant is Pre-Engineered for capacities ranging from 10 kld to 1,200 kld. The Pre-Engineered STP also helps clients to do away with lengthy tendering processes involving hiring consultants, preparing tenders, tender analysis, tender shortlists, etc. Besides, WappSys OXY-BIO has been developed in 2 formats.

SBR – a clear winner

Over the years, WAPP has installed and commissioned plants with various technologies. Starting from Extended Aeration (EA) to SAFF/FAB/MBBR (media-based processes) and now to SBR and MBR (single tank reactors), WAPP has witnessed the evolution of wastewater technology in India.

The conclusion is clear: SBR technology is the best for Indian conditions. To begin with, the SBR biological system is independent of membranes and media, besides bringing down the number of tanks required to a minimum. Further, multiple filtration options are available to cater to either fully or partially treated water streams to ensure optimum operations. It has also been found that many municipal corporations and top companies are now adopting SBR as the standard norm in wastewater technology.

As WAPP developed its wastewater technological database, we found that SBR scored over other technologies in many aspects. Here are a few:

  • Low power consumption (0.2-0.4 kw/kl)
  • Less sludge generation
  • Nutrient (N and P) removal (soon to be a statutory requirement)
  • BOD less than 5 mg/l
  • No media
